MISSIONARIES OF THE SACRED HEART AND SAINT MARY OF GUADALUPE
The religious Congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and of Santa María de Guadalupe (MSC), participates of the same cradle and the same ideal with the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Santa María de Guadalupe (MSCGpe), because -although at different times and in different ways- both were raised in the Church by the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the 20th century, with the same charism, which is in essence: passionately living the love for the Heart of Jesus and giving themselves with all forces on the mission to extend his Reign of love in the world.
The two sister Congregations have shared common episodes in faith and fraternity since their inception, because the founder of the Missionaries (MSCGpe): SD Maria Amada del Niño Jesús, and the founder of the Missionaries (MSC): R.P. Teodosio Martínez Ramos, they met in life, they lived a close friendship, they helped each other on their way of following Jesus and they were, for each other, the unconditional support they needed at crucial moments for the works that God entrusted to them.
The MSCs were founded on June 3, 1938, in Azcapotzalco, City of Mexico, Mexico, by the Reverend Father Theodosius Martínez Ramos, who received, through Mother Maria Amada, the message that the Heart of Jesus communicated to her, regarding the new branch of the Work:
“Suddenly, I seemed to understand: «I want religious people, I want a branch of men, I want Missionaries». The Heart of Jesus said to me: In two years you will start the Work. The two Works will have the same Cradle. Father Martínez will be the Instrument, He has chosen my Heart”. (From the SD Diary of Mary Beloved of the Child Jesus, June 1, 1935)
